Wow. I am in tears over this miracle. How can he be alive? Thank you, Jesus!

(And good grief about the Pulitzer question!)

Foggy Hike

We enjoyed an invigorating hike in the beautiful, mysterious fog today. We took a wrong turn and went a long way out of the way, but thankfully, we actually ran into someone Bob knows along the way and he was able to point us in the right direction. God is so good! And we got a great workout.

New Book!

Sally Clarkson just announced the arrival of her newest book! I cannot wait to get my hands on this one. What a beautiful subject...JOY! It is one that I have been studying and pursuing in my own life lately. I cannot wait to read Sally's words of wisdom. I had the honour of meeting Sally and hearing her speak at our local homeschool convention almost two years ago. She is a delight!

If you are not familiar with Sally, here is their family's website. I have read all of her books and don't know if I can pick a favourite. They are all filled with her Titus 2 wisdom. Check them out here.

And just as an aside, Sarah Clarkson, Clay and Sally's oldest child, also has a new book out that I cannot wait to read!

Skating, Anyone?

We are thankful for the gorgeous, sunny day and for our amazing friend, Christine, who went skating with us by the lake!

Exploring a Karst

I will admit to not knowing what a *karst* was until a couple of weeks ago. I love learning new things with my children!

In case you are not sure either, you can read the definition of a karst here.

My friend, Rebecca, whom I have been able to spend a lovely amount of time with this week, has a friend who is working for the conservation areas here and offered to give us a tour of a new conservation area.

It was bitterly cold, so cold that Rebecca was joking that she may return to her desert with frostbitten toes, but we persevered and had an interesting time. We learned about the overall karst, sinkholes, sinks, dolomite rock, caves and since we had a fresh snowfall overnight, we saw quite a few fascinating animal tracks (rabbit, squirrel, vole, mouse, wild turkey and coyote)!

After our outdoor excursion, we quickly headed for the restaurant with the fireplace for lunch and thawing out!

A Day of Friends

Today started out with a surprise migraine for me. I say surprise because I just do NOT get migraines very often anymore (Praise and thank You, God!). So I fought it for a few hours this morning. Bob and Emma took turns praying over me, asking the Father for healing and kicking out the enemy.

I loved Emma's prayer against the enemy -- "you will not steal our joy today".

See, we had lots of fun planned for today. Special things like a reunion with our friend Rebecca who is now going to school on the other side of the planet. Our friend Christine was also coming to see Rebecca and hang out with us. And then we had plans to see our friends, the Maretzki's, for our weekly fun get-to-together.

Plus we actually had a tiny bit of snow and the boys had tried out the tobogganing hill yesterday, so everyone was eager to get out and get down the hill this afternoon.

So thank you, Father, for hearing our prayers and raising me up out of bed. It was a sweet day of friends and we thank You for each one of them!

Rebecca came with Christmas gifts from Saudi and Egypt...

Yes, I am pale and weak but full of joy!

Tobogganing here we come...
