Encouragement

This came to my inbox yesterday, but I have just had time to sit and read through it this morning. Oh, what encouragement it has given me!

Here are a few of the statements that really spoke to my heart...
* We've gone through enough fire and hardship to know that without actually finding God, in fulfillment of Jer. 29:13, we cannot do what we do.
* We major first of all not on mission strategy, methods, projects and fundraising, but having the life that the world needs and craves.
* The joy of the Lord is not optional, and it far outweighs our suffering!

I encourage you to take time to read the entire message. What glorious things the Father is doing through this family and the ministry He has given them.

If you're not familiar with Iris Ministries or Rolland and Heidi Baker, here is a short video that will give you a glimpse into what God is doing through them in Mozambique.

Her face just glows with the joy of Jesus!

Blessings in Him!

Benji Day!

Our Benjamin turned eight today!

He was such a great sport with all the flexibility and change of birthday party plans due to a)the weather and 2)his dad's broken ankle. Not to mention the little sisters who were sick. No fishing (plan A). No swimming at the Y (plan B).

So, we quickly came up with plan C: having his party here at the house with his two good friends, Matthew and Zachary. Chef Emma made Mia's Chocolate Sheet Cake, which is always a big hit. Yum.

It was a good day.

We love you, Benji-man and are so thankful for you and for the life and energy you bring to our family!

Please continue to pray for Bob. He can't do anything. I think I need to rent some war movies or something for him. We have an appointment with the fracture clinic on Tuesday.

In the meantime, I took the little girls to the doctor today. Ava has been coughing on and off for six weeks. We took her in once already and were told it was allergies and to treat with Benadryl at night. In the past few days, though, the coughing has come back and not only coughing but also a snotty nose and fever. She and Maya were both coughing non-stop today, so we went in late this afternoon. Ava is on an antibiotic and an inhaler. Maya is just on an inhaler for now. The doctor suspects Ava to have asthma and will do some more testing once she is feeling better. Please keep praying.

Needless to say, I am past ready for bed. 'Night.

Blessings.

Crazy Day!

What a day! Austin and I went to run errands for Ben's birthday, which is tomorrow. While we were out running around, the car died. I honestly don't think that has ever happened to me before. In our driveway, yes, but not out running around. Anywho, we got out of the car and Austin wanted to pop the hood. Such a manly man. So we opened the hood and well, just stood there looking. Yep, that's the engine. Yep, there's the battery. I need a Mechanics 101 class, quick.

Okay, so I pulled out my cell phone to call Bob and noticed that I already had a text from him. It said 'Twisted ankle playing bball. In emerg. Hurt and swollen.' Alrighty, I don't guess it will do much good to call and tell him my news, but of course I called anyway to check on him. He was in a great deal of pain and waiting to see a doctor. :(

In the next hour, I had a furry of phone calls, trying to figure out what to do about the vehicle, as well as a boost from a man in the parking lot. I will spare you all those details. When the tow truck driver arrived, he knew that I didn't want him to try boosting it again, but he asked if he could look at it anyway. Well, praise God that he did. I know he saved us a GREAT deal of money. He found that the terminal on one of the battery thingy-dos (I have no idea what the correct term is) was loose. He got his tools from his truck and tightened the terminal. The car started right up and kept running even when I drove it around the parking lot. Thank you, Jesus!!!

A big thank you to my beautiful friend, Christine, who is so much like a sister to me. She is very busy with school and projects and assignments, but she helped out a great deal today. Love you, girl! And thanks to our friend and neighbour, Chris, who was a huge help on the phone and a great support to me when Bob was not able to be.

And now, the bad news...Bob's ankle is chipped on the left side and possibly on the right, as well. We call the fracture clinic tomorrow to make an appointment for a specialist.

It is very obvious to us that the enemy is hard at work. Bob has been back on campus and the enemy is not happy about that. A friend of ours told Bob today that the enemy is not pleased with deliverance. God is delivering lives who have been in bondage and He is pouring out His Spirit among us.

So we press on. We look to Jesus and learn more about what it means to live for Him and for His Kingdom. It's all for Him. Including dead cars and broken ankles.

Please join us in praying for healing for Bob's ankle. Our God is mighty to save!

Blessings.

Wedding/Birthday Weekend

Last weekend we had two celebrations. Emma officially turned 14 (with a fun lunch out), and we celebrated the marriage of our friends, Sam and Vince! Ava had fun taking the role of flower girl and Bob had the privilege of officiating for them. We also had the opportunity to stay in a hotel for two nights, which included swimming in the hotel pool and a pizza party in the room one of the nights!

Sam and Vince, we are so happy that we were able to celebrate your wedding with you. Thank you for having Ava as your flower girl. She had a wonderful time! May the Lord bless you in beautiful ways as you set up your home and begin your life together. Love you guys!
Many blessings!
