The Father woke me up yesterday with these words "I am doing a new thing!" Oh wow! Yes, that got me on my feet and to one of my favourite verses in Isaiah. It's found in chapter 43 and refers to God bringing His people out of captivity.
Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland. vv. 18-19
I haven't necessarily felt like 2009 was a year in the desert, but it had quite a few valleys. It was a year of much sickness and spiritual attack. Surgery. Financial challenges like never before. I saw God and came to know Him better in each and every one of those circumstances. I worship Him more now that I did in 2008. I speak to Him and wait on Him and hear His voice more.
But I have been asking Him lately for more. I have seen more of His power in the last couple of years and I am not satisfied. Seeing and knowing more of Him has just whetted my appetite for more. I have an acute hunger for Him. Nothing else will satisfy!
And last night I had a dream that a friend sent me a text message with the reference Isaiah 43:19 in it. Thank you, Father!
I do not know what the new thing will entail, but I trust Him and long for Him to do a new thing. I am filled with joyful anticipation!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
So, friends, take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high. Keep a tight grip on what you were taught, whether in personal conversation or by our letter. May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 MSG
What are you anticipating God to do in 2010?
Happy New Year and Blessings!
