Life in Virginia

Well, life in our new state is certainly not dull and boring! We experienced our first earthquake on Tuesday, which was a crazy, helpless feeling. We were all a bit freaked out, all except Bob, who was just thinking of Acts chapter two!!! No one was hurt and no damage was done to the house, thanks to the Lord!

We had already made plans with the family with whom we are staying to take all of our children, plus two neighbours, to a local water park. After we recovered from the shaking, we went ahead with our plans to go and celebrate the end of summer. We had called ahead to make sure they were still open, since many D. C. buildings had been evacuated or closed. They were open, although when we arrived, all of the main water slides were closed for safety precautions. Thankfully, they re-opened shortly after we arrived and we had a great time in the sun!

We are now watching Hurricane Irene with the rest of the East Coast. We have helped prepare the property so that nothing blows away or gets damaged, and Bob readied the generator last night. We are praying for every one's safety!

Our home in Canada has sold! Wooohooo! We will close next week and are so thrilled and thankful! We pray many blessings on the new family. I know they will love the house and the neighbourhood.

Bob and I are excited about going to a conference today and tomorrow with the Intercessors for America.

And we are looking forward to celebrating a birthday girl on Sunday!

Blessings on your day!

August Prayer Update

Here is a quick update on how things are progressing in Northern Virginia near D.C. We have been staying with the amazing and hospitable Jon Tigges family at their house/bed and breakfast, Zion Springs, since July 16. Their 6 kiddos and our crew of 5 have bonded in such a special way...great friends already. As we have shared our story with them about our heart for awakening and revival, they have connected us with so many other individuals and families with the same heart. Something is really brewing here...we are excited but not really surprised anymore as we begin to get established here in the area. Here are some prayer requests...

1. Bob is meeting next week with an accountant in Leesburg to explore the possibilities of setting up a non-profit organization or a church or some other option.
2. Pray for our house in Hamilton, Ontario, to sell. It has been on the market for 2 weeks with one offer falling through. We want to settle here in the Hamilton, VA, area and know the right place at the right time will open up.

It was a privilege for Bob to travel to Houston last weekend for the fasting and prayer event, TheResponse. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his parents as well as his sister and kiddos who were visiting.

You can check out Scarlett's blog, www.thescarlettthread.blogspot.com for more details and pics on Royce family life.

Blasting off

Hello from beautiful Hamilton, Virginia where it is muggy and we have had a wonderful rain shower already this morning. I want to take a minute and catch up on the last week.

We continue to be amazed and overwhelmed by God's goodness to us. That He brought us here for a purpose (or multiple purposes) is evident every single day. The wonderful Tigges family that owns the bed and breakfast where we are staying has already become so dear to us. Our children are playing and hanging out together. Us grownups are enjoying good conversation and fellowship. We are enjoying learning about the business and helping out where we can. Emma even went on a camping trip to West Virginia for four days with some of the T family and had a great time. What blessings we are living and experiencing! Bob is meeting new people almost every day and we are encouraged about settling down in this area. God is already at work here and we are thrilled to join in on what He is doing.

Backing up a bit, Bob had the privilege of going to Houston over the weekend for The Response that was held in the Reliant Center. It was an important time of prayer and fasting for the country. He was also able to spend time with his dad and mom, as well as a short but special time with his sister and her children who were also in town visiting.

We have been continuing to seek God's face regarding the purposes He has for us here and how He wants us to minister here. We are prayerfully considering starting our own non-profit organization. Please pray into this with us, that we would know His purpose, His timing and His provision for what we are sensing. It is exciting!!! And please let us know if you are praying...email me at scarlettroyce at gmail dot com. You are such an encouragement to us!

Here are a few photos from that past two weeks...

The sunsets have been stunning lately!
