Gingerbread Scones

I mentioned on FB that I had made these today and a couple of friends requested the recipe. Here you go...

Gingerbread Scones

2 c. flour
1/3 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. molasses
1/3 c. milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles course crumbles. Combine molasses and milk and add to dry ingredients. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times.

Divide dough in half and shape each half into a ball. Pat each ball into a 5-inch circle and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Cut each circle into 6 wedges, using a sharp knife, but do not separate wedges.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

Enjoy!
