Holiday Time
Hi friends!
If you're wondering where my Weekly Menu Plan is, I'm sorry! I'm taking a little time off this week. Yes, we're still eating, of course, just not posting about it. I may post some things this week or I may not. It's Spring Break week for us, and I'm trying to take advantage of the actual "break" part of that term. We're not actually away on holiday. We're home and doing more of a "staycation" kind of week. I have a few extra projects lined up for myself around the house, as well.
If you're on Spring Break, as well, have a great one!
Blessings and love. xo

Easter Stories {Review and Giveaway}
Disclosure (in accordance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”): Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.
About the book:
About the book:
383 pg / multiple authors
Easter Stories includes time-honored favorites from world-famous storytellers such as C.S. Lewis, Leo Tolstoy, Selma Lagerlof, Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Goudge, Maxim Gorky, Ruth Sawyer, Anton Chekhov, and Walter Wangerin – as well as many you may never have heard before.
Illustrated with original woodcuts.
My thoughts:
I was interested in reviewing this book, not because of it's title, but because I didn't know most of these stories. And I love to celebrate "Easter", or rather the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, every day, not just one Sunday in the spring, so these stories could be great to read for yourself or to your children or grandchildren at anytime.
Here are just some of the 20+ story titles:
The Coming of the King by Laura E. Richards
The Church of the Washing Feet by Alan Paton
Robin Redbreast by Selma Lagerlof
John by Elizabeth Gouge
Two Old Men by Leo Tolstoy
The Death of the Lizard by C. S. Lewis
The King and Death by Ger Koopman
I enjoyed reading these stories and will encourage my children to read them at their leisure. One story that I appreciated was The Church of the Washing Feet by Alan Paton. I had never read or heard this one before and it was very touching. It takes place in South Africa and is a beautiful lesson in forgiveness and the desire for unity.
Another new one to me was Two Old Men by Leo Tolstoy. It is a poignant story about putting aside our own plans and desires to simply see the people in front of us and act in love and compassion. Sometimes we think our plans are on track or even that God requires a certain thing of us, only to find out that He just wants us to breathe His life to those whose faces are in the dirt and who are without hope. This one will stick with me for a long time.

Speaking Life Series - 2
Good afternoon, lovely friend,
In case you missed the first post in this series, go here.
I have several other passages of Scripture to share with you today. Let's speak these truths over our lives and continue asking the Father to teach us about our correct identities. We are His well-loved children and He delights in us! Don't agree with the enemy if he is whispering anything else into your ear. It's time to stand and fight!
Psalm 149:4 NIV
For the Lord takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.
he crowns the humble with victory.
Romans 8:14-17 TLB
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like God’s very own children, adopted into the bosom of his family, and calling to him, “Father, Father.” For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
I John 3:1 MSG
What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to.
Psalm 147:10-11 NIV
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11
the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Let's continue speaking life over ourselves, our families and friends, our churches, over our circumstances and our towns/cities. It is our honour and privilege to do so and it will change the atmosphere!
Blessings and love. xo

No Longer a Slumdog {Review and Free Book}
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from FlyBy Promotions in exchange for this review. Opinions are all my own and not influenced by monetary compensation.
There are some books that make you smile, some books that teach you about the world, some that pull at your heartstrings and some that are just downright difficult to swallow. No Longer A Slumdog by K. P. Yohannan is all of those things and more.
About the book:
Those with no voice—the suffering children of Asia—tell their stories. And as you listen to them, you share their anguish and rejoice in their triumphs. The whole world seems to stop as you look on.
"You girls stay here. I’m going to get something to drink.” But after a few minutes, the train started moving again, and Mom still wasn’t back! Our hearts were racing. The train kept going faster and faster. Where was Mom?
Hope is growing in the hearts of those who never knew such a thing existed. In this truly gripping narrative, K.P. Yohannan shares their stories— stories of lives transformed, of families learning to love, of entire communities flourishing with new life. Witness as this next great wave of transformation sweeps the nations.
About the author:
K. P. Yohannan
Dr. K.P. Yohannan, founder and international director for Gospel of Asia, has authored more than 200 books, including Revolution in World Missions, an international bestseller with more than 3 million copies in print. He is on the board of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), and his Road to Reality radio program airs on more than 900 stations worldwide. He and his wife, Gisela, have two grown children, Daniel and Sarah, who both serve the Lord with their families.
My thoughts:
This book took the story further. It gave example after example of the Dalits in India and their desperation and hopelessness. I honestly had to put the book down a time or two to take a break from the heartache. I felt the weight of the sorrow and sadness and sometimes had to take a breather. But I cannot walk away completely. Compassion is at the very heart of our heavenly Father. I need to know these stories, the names and faces of those who have suffered greatly and have experienced the metamorphosis of becoming new in Jesus Christ.
I think the most important thing I take away from this book is what the Bridge of Hope Centers are doing in the lives of thousands of precious people in India. Children are being cared for, getting not only their basic needs of food, clothing and education met, but also they are learning about the incredible love of God. They are learning that they are not forgotten. And they are going home and sharing this love with their families. Entire families and even entire villages are being transformed by the love and grace of Jesus!

Weekly Menu Plan {9 March}
Good morning, Friend!
I have so much on my heart this morning. I know some of us are experiencing great struggles and challenges in our lives. I know some are feeling hopeless. This is not what I usually write about on my menu plan posts, but I just have such a strong desire to encourage us (myself included) this morning. As a believer in Jesus, I cannot look at my circumstances to determine ANYTHING. My surroundings may look bleak, even impossible at times, but I choose to fix my eyes on The King. I am learning more and more about who I am in Jesus, more and more about The Kingdom which cannot be shaken and my place in that Kingdom. I hope to write more on this soon.
If you are in a place of despair, do not give up. The Father sees you and knows you and is for you! He will never leave you or forsake you! Declare His truths over your life. Stand strong in faith. The best is yet to come! And if you'd like me to pray over you, please feel free to say so in the comments or email me (scarlettroyce(at)gmaildotcom).
Here is our menu plan for this week:
Monday - Easy Rice and Lentils (something similar to this recipe)
Tuesday - Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, tomato soup
Wednesday - Crockpot Chicken, rice
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Turkey and Dressing
Saturday - Mexican Baked Beans
Sunday - Snack-y supper

Blessings and love, dear one. xo
