Weekly Menu Plan {30 June}

Happy last day of June! I hope your summer is going well. Bob and the boys were out of town for most of last week, Emma worked a lot, and so I found myself having a great deal of time to devote to my little girls. We had such a fun time! We bought new sidewalk chalk, we went out to dinner, we caught multitudes of fireflies, we had a bubble-blowing party, we ate Ramen noodles, we made tye dye t-shirts. It was a treat to give them my undivided attention. With everyone else gone, it really made me think about the future and what it's going to look like.

Here is my dinner plan for this week:

Monday - We ordered pizza. I had been cleaning and organizing all day and all of the sudden it was 5:30pm. Yikes.

Tuesday - Quiche, fruit salad

Wednesday - Grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, bacon-wrapped asparagus

Thursday - Leftovers

Friday - Grilled sausage, baked beans, salad, watermelon - Happy 4th of July!!!

Saturday - Snack-y supper

Sunday - Leftovers

Blessings and love. xo

Wow! It's the middle of June already. How is your summer going???

Thank you to those who commented on my What I Wore post last week! I enjoyed reading your opinions. I was all set to use my birthday gift card for that cute striped dress yesterday, but darn, they were out of my size. So, I opted for a swim suit and a short sleeved tee, instead.

Have you joined Zulily.com yet? It's free to join and there are so many fun things posted each day, at reduced prices. Here are some options that are available right now:

Weekly Menu Plan {16 June}

I'm running late with getting this posted. Taxi driving, a surprise visit with a friend plus World Cup watching took up my day. Are you watching any of the games? Do you call them "games" or "matches"? Do you have a favourite team/s? Do you call it soccer or fútbol We have such a good time watching as a family, when we are able. It's hilarious and intense, at times, since we don't all follow or cheer for the same teams. I like to call us "global Americans"!

Here's my dinner plan for this week:

Monday - Tortellini Salad - to go with our Father's Day leftovers

Tuesday - Crockpot Cashew Chicken, rice

Wednesday - Burgers on the grill, potato salad, baked beans

Thursday - Leftovers

Friday - HM Pizza - probably cheese, pepperoni and veggie

Saturday - Buffalo Chicken Dip, crackers, veggie tray

Sunday - Something on the grill

I hope all is well with you and that you are enjoying the start to your week!

Our Favourite Grilled Chicken Recipe

Our Favourite Grilled Chicken

4 lbs. chicken breasts
1 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. red wine vinegar
1/2 c. olive oil
2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried basil (or other combinations of spices)
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 - 1 tsp. black pepper

Mix marinade ingredients together. Place chicken in large Ziploc bag and cover with marinade. Keep in refrigerator for 4-24 hours, turning once or twice to make sure all the chicken gets plenty of marinade time. Obviously, the longer, the better.

Grill chicken on medium heat until it is no longer pink and the juices run clear.

We love this chicken with BBQ sauce or in chicken fajitas or on top of nachos or in a Cobb salad or in Mexican Chicken Soup. It's so versatile. You can grill it all and freeze what you don't need to use right away.

We made a bunch of chicken last week. The first night we had chicken fajitas. Then the next night, I used the extra for Buffalo Chicken French Bread. I actually made half with Buffalo sauce and half with BBQ sauce and they were big hits.

I have been making this recipe for years and years. It is probably my most requested recipe by friends who have come over for supper, so I thought I'd share it here. I hope you enjoy it!

Blessings and love. xo

Weekly Menu Plan {9 June}

Happy new week!

What's going on in your world this week? I am trying to plan a few outings and activities for the summer, as well as some sort of relaxed routine. It's so easy to completely and entirely relax when summer begins and the regular school routine gets put aside, but then the dishwasher doesn't emptied, the dirty dishes start piling up in the sink, there are crumbs on the floor, etc. So, we really have to have some sort of routine, even if the mornings start a little later because the nights went a little longer and a few things don't get done per usual.

I love summer break!

Here's my menu plan for this week:

Monday - Lasagna Casserole, salad

Tuesday - Bangers and Mash, peas

Wednesday - Thai Coconut Soup

Thursday - Baked Potato Bar

Friday - Leftovers

Saturday - Something grilled

Sunday - Snack-y supper

Grace Note Gifts

Hi Friends! I have something fun to share with you today. I want to introduce you to my new friend Grace of Grace Note GiftsI have gotten to know Grace, mostly from Instagram, where she shares about her soy wax melts business. One day I noticed that she had asked which of four new scents she should add to her shop. The first one or two people to comment with a particular scent won a sample! How fun is that? And it just so happens that I won the Sage and Lemongrass scent. Grace included four other scent samples for me to review (see photo above).

About Grace:
I'm a wife and homeschooling Mom to 3! I'm passionate about my family, faith and I LOVE coffee and candles...if you couldn't tell from my IG feed, lol! ;-)

I began making wax melts a little over 2 years ago after a lifetime (literally) of loving scents. My Mom has said when I was little I'd go around with her empty gum wrappers in my little purse and would smell them and called them my "smellies", lol. Isn't that funny?! I don't remember that, but I do know that I've always loved things that smelled good, especially candles and I am a candle buying addict. SO, I thought why not make them! Haha!

I use 100% soy wax in my wax melts. I like soy wax because it burns clean (in candles), it's sustainable and biodegradable! Most of my fragrances are infused with essential oils which gives them more of a true to life fragrance. I am pretty picky about what I make...if I don't like it, I don't sell it! :-)

My thoughts:
I LOVE these soy melts from Grace Note Gifts. When my package arrived in the mail, my children came running in with it saying "Mom, it smells like candy!" Haha! I think they were a tiny bit disappointed that the package wasn't filled with Skittles or some other edible, fruity deliciousness, but when I explained what was in the package, they were still eager to open it up and find out what a soy melt was.

We took turns smelling each of the 5 scents:

We liked all of them, but the hands down favourite was and is Indian Summer, which is a delicious combination of peaches, pineapples, lemons, limes, melons and apples. It is warm and summery and happy. And Grace has SO many more scents from which to choose.

If you're not familiar with soy melts, they are so simple to use. Just break off a cube and put it in your electric or tea light warmer. The wax cube melts and gives off a wonderful fragrance. Even though I love candles, I like this idea, as well, since there is no flame with an electric warmer (which is what I have). If you enjoy candles, you may really enjoy these melts. I have mine in my kitchen, but it would be nice in any room in the house. I even have one of the little cups (in the photo at the top) sitting on my dryer. The cube doesn't melt when the dryer is on, but it is potent enough with the warmth from the dryer to give out a wonderful smell without even being melted.

I highly recommend Grace's products and hope you'll go to her Etsy shop to check them out now! They would make great gifts for graduation, birthdays, Christmas, house warming or "just because".

Disclaimer: I won a giveaway on Grace's IG account for the 3oz soy melts. The samples were sent for review purposes. I received no other compensation. All opinions are my very own.
